Over the years, VRBO and Airbnb have changed the face of the vacation rental market by giving travelers more options of where to stay on their next trip. Here are 6 reasons to rent a vacation home instead of a hotel room:

Cost

Renting a house or condo can be affordable. There are a variety of price points based on location, number of bedrooms etc…which allows you to tailor a rental to your budget. I always compare hotel room prices in the area to rental prices and have found hotel rooms are typically the same or more expensive for less amenities (less space, no kitchen, no laundry etc…)

Space

As kids grow, we all need more space. In a rental home, people can spread out and have their own space (maybe even their own bathroom!) versus everyone staying in one room. 

Eat Meals at Home

Cooking your own meals while on vacation can be a huge money saver. If you are looking for a way to cut costs while traveling, this is one way to do it. We like to eat out for lunch and cook breakfast and dinner at our rental. We also bring snacks so we aren’t wasting money on little things that can add up. 

Parking

Rental homes typically come with a parking spot or garage which is important in areas where parking is an issue. I recently passed on a place that had a reduced price but no parking spot (the price reflected the lack of parking). Not knowing how challenging parking would be, I chose a place that had a dedicated spot and spent more for it. 

Laundry

Most rental homes are equipped with washers and dryers. Pack lighter knowing that you can do laundry on the road. You’ll save time and money having in unit laundry. 

Amenities

Choose homes by the amenities you want. Need a pool? Ski in/ski out? Allows Pets? These are all options you can select when searching for a property and make your stay that much more enjoyable!
